Comment: With a lifetime interest in martial arts, health and fitness  I have found my training under the Blitz Thai Kickboxing system to be the perfect way to bring all my lifetime interests together. It has assisted me in the development of myself both personally and professionally. The Blitz Thai Kickboxing system has always been challenging with clear goals and checkpoints to measure my own development. The system draws on the ancient techniques of Thaiboxing, effective element of other martial arts styles, and Kru Marks experience both in the ring and working within the security industry for a number of years. For these reasons I feel the Blitz Thai Kickboxing system to be well suited to everyone.

Comment: The influence Mark has had on my life has kept me off the street and given me good positive focus in my business and personal aspect of my life. I have participated in a few different systems but believe the Blitz system to be the most beneficial due to the support that is offered by the trainers. The club has always been so welcoming and easy to turn up to every week. I want my students to learn self respect, respect to others, fitness and well beingI am very much looking forward to teaching all the new and existing students at Hammers Gym and hope they will be able to experience what I did.

Comment: I started in Muay Thai because I wanted to get fit and learn how to defend myself if I was in a difficult situation. I believe the style (Muay Thai) is an ultimate martial art that incorporates self-defence, discipline, structure and fitness. I feel that Muay Thai provides you with confidence and motivation to better yourself and your fitness. I would want my students to feel comfortable in the class and to be able to try new techniques without the fear of getting it wrong. Furthermore I would want the students to gain confidence through training Kru Mark adds a special element to the classes and I find him very inspirational to people and students both in Muay Thai and in Life.

Blitz Muay Thai has given me access to some of the best trainers and fighters in the world , their attitudes , their skills and their training methods .. As you would expect this has helped me to grow as a martial artist , but even more than that , through the gym and Kru Mark’s leadership I have come to really understand the meaning of mateship , dedication and following your dreams . As a senior student now  I want to pass on these lessons , and help the next generation of Australians grow into the men and women they were meant to be. With our help , we know they can “ Blitz “ it!

Comment:
The Blitz Muay Thai system has given me so much more focus on my training and it has helped me increase my objectives in reaching for higher goals both in the gym and in my everyday life. I really enjoy being able to pass on the techniques I have learned to other students, and watch them grow and evolve as I have.

Comment:
I wanted to join Blitz Muay Thai as I’d been in a few fights & I’d usually end up throwing the first punch through fear & inexperience. I joined Blitz Muay Thai to learn how to handle myself in these situations & found through time, that I don’t even need to throw any punches, but if it came down to it, I know I have the confidence & ability to hold my ground to defend myself and my family/friends. I also joined to improve my fitness which I believe to be at its best.  I really admire the Blitz training system as it promotes such a high degree of respect by all members toward each other. You feel very humble and proud at the same time. Through my time here I’ve made life long friends and the I’ve found drive to become the best I can be.

Comment: I started Blitz Muay Thai about 4 years ago with Kru mark, as I was wanting a way keeping fit, to learn how to protect myself and a new challenge. Although becoming a fighter is not one of my goals, the style of training caters to what I want to achieve. I have found that every session brings a new challenge, with something new to learn and it’s always enjoyable. The club is a great place to train as you are not just a student, you are part of a family, with similar interests and goals.

Comment:
I’ve been doing Blitz Muay Thai with Kru Mark for nearly three years now, and with his help, along with the support of the other trainers, I have improved my fitness and skill in this art form. I love that I still have so much to learn and this helps to keep me motivated and focused on my goals. It has helped me develop the confidence to become a personal trainer, as well as giving me the ability to overcome other hurdles in my life. I hope that one day, I can pass what I have learnt on to others.

BOXING TRAINER - STUART PATTERSON

BOXING CAREER 1987-2001

-25 AMATEUR BOUTS -23 PROFESSIONAL BOUTS

Stuart Patterson

I started boxing with Tony Squillage and Geoff Ellis under the tutelage of Terry Turner.

After leaving there I moved on under the guidance of Brian Levier who was a successful professional boxer, having boxed the great John Famechon (Famechon was trained by the legendary Ambrose Palmer). I boxed with Brian for 4-5years, having good success and I was fortunate to be in the company of some of the top amateurs who represented this country.

From there I moved to the late Mick Canavan’s Gym where Johnny (Bill) Cooper (DEC.) trained me and Leo Young Jnr. Johnny had actually trained Leo Young Snr. to the Australian Professional Title (TV Ringside).

Mick, through his great generosity, allowed Johnny Cooper and Bryce Birtwhistle to train in the same Gym- Johnny being a boxing trainer and Bryce a kickfighting trainer.

I was very fortunate to be in a Gym that had so many men who could really fight, ranging from junior kids right through to men, from bantamweight to heavyweight. A lot of them where top line professionals.

Through Johnny Cooper, I won the Victorian and Australian Amateur titles. Following that I turned professional, having about 5-6 fights under Johnny. Not long after, he retired from the game. So Mick Canavan took over, daring to take on all comers. We had some great times, we really did. Forever chasing Lovemore Ndou and having some wild battles with whom ever crossed our path.

Unfortunately, Mick passed away in 1999, then Terry Grinsted, Mick’s best mate, Billy Gayther and Craig Trotter took over the gym with great success.

I also had the opportunity to fight in Japan at the Kourakuen Hall, a venue steeped in fighting history, thanks to Frank Quill, fighting in front of the likes of the great fighting Harada. From there I took on some top liners, one fellow being the Philippines Lightweight Champion who had boxed a draw with the No. 3 in the World(W.B.C.) from South Africa.

I left for the UK after that, living in London’s East End with Sam Soliman and Nathan Sting- both top fighters and great blokes. We were lucky to be training in a gym (T.K.O. out of Shadwell), the owners being Frank and Eugene Maloney. Frank Maloney had managed Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis.

All in all I have very fortunate to have experienced the game from boys having their first amateur fight, to the upper echelons of the professional game- that being the Heavyweight Championship of the World. These are my credentials.
